FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
17 August 2025

Pacific Islands Fisheries Group to Host Second Round of IRA Meetings in Hilo and Kona

PIFG will be in Hilo (8/22) and Kona (8/23) for community outreach meetings on behalf of the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council. The purpose of the meetings is to discuss shark depredation, Shark rules and regulations, Fishing infrastructure and access, and ocean use.

These meetings are open to the public and all are invited to share their experiences, how they believe we can make issues better, and understand better as a community what we are facing as the world around us changes.

As one member said last trip to Kona - we have to all show up and make our voices heard if we want to make a difference.

Kona & Hilo - show up and make your voices heard!
