FRESH LOCAL FISH DISTRIBUTION

The Fishing Community and Partners have come together during the 2025 Government Shutdown to provide locally sourced seafood to our communities. The following organizations were pivotal in this effort. To provide any thanks or if you would like to share anything please email pacificfisheries@gmail.com so we may provide this to our program supporters.

Established in 2015, Local Iʻa is run by scientists-become-fishmongers who believe in a healthy relationship between our food and our ecosystems. Our fishmongers use their expertise in marine biology, conservation, and food preparation to match your needs with the perfect choice of local fish. Local Iʻa is a fishery supported by the community. We offer a central market where the community can access fish and seafood from our local fishermen. We vet all of our fish to be island-local, the highest quality, environmentally and ecologically responsible, and fair-trade. Meanwhile, we offer fishermen an outlet where their good practices pay off.

The Harold K. L. Castle Foundation is committed to supporting our resilient communities during this uncertain time. As the impact of the federal government's far-off actions is felt on our shores, we hold to our steadfast belief that our communities are strongest when we come together, including in our ability to make sure we are all safe and fed. We are grateful to our local fishers and food providers as they show up for our community members affected by the federal shutdown and job cuts.
